ho molto apprezzato le pubblicazioni della collana "Amando Cattolica", di cui ha voluto farmi dono, testimonianza della Sua passione per la fotografia e nelle quali ho potuto ammirare le bellezze della Sua Città nativa e del territorio circostante.

Nel ringraziarLa dell'attenzione, spero, compatibilmente con i numerosi impegni istituzionali, di poter riuscire a visitare personalmente la mostra in corso a Cattolica, nella sede espositiva di Piazza I° Maggio e, con l'augurio delle più grandi soddisfazioni, Le giungano, con l'occasione, vive cordialità.

Inaugurazione Nuova Darsena a mare 21 giugno 2008

La mostra fotografica “Amando Cattolica”, sarà esposta dal 30 giugno al 26 luglio 2008 presso il Museo d'arte contemporanea Kolcsey Centre di Debrecen (Ungheria).  

             rinnova la fiducia autorizzando scatti fotografici all’interno del Castello di Gradara e concedendone la pubblicazione nell'ambito del progetto “Amando Cattolica”.

Man kann Cattolica auf vielerlei Art und Weise lieben

Die Stadt Cattolica als Kind liebkosten, indem man unbeständige Sandschlösser an der Strandlinie baut, die durch die Meeresbrandung weggespült werden ; sie als Erwachsene geniessen, indem man dorthin im Lauf der Jahre immer wieder in Urlaub fährt, zuerst mit der eigenen Frau, dann mit den Kindern und noch später mit den Enkeln ; sie im Winternebel, der die  Strassen verhüllt, und mit dem vom Hafen her kommenden Heulen des Nebelhorns, durchstreifen ; ihre vom Raureif, der die Ohren glänzen lässt, überzogenen Bäume sehen ; dort beim Blumenfest früher ankommen, wenn die Natur in tausend Farben erblüht ; an ihr leiden in der Hoffnung, dass der Südwestwind aufhört, sie am Fenster vorüberziehen sehen, während der Zug fährt, nicht hält, und im sich entfernenden Meer  Erinnerungsspuren und fröhliche Bilder hinterlässt ; sie in den Büchern erzählen, um den anderen, was einem auf den Nägeln brennt, zu sagen und zu geben ; sie photographieren, um die Zeit festzuhalten, um eine Emotion noch einmal zu empfinden, um ein Licht, einen Schatten, eine Farbe, einen Reflex, ein Profil wahrzunehmen und aus vielen anderen Gründen. Eben Photos machen und sie ausstellen, damit sie gesehen werden können und sie in einem Band sammeln, weil sie bewahrt werden sollen und sie dann im Meer des Computernetzes zerstreuen,  damit ein neugieriger Wandler auf sie stösst , das ist Lieben.  Und das ist genau das was der gute Antonio Barbieri mit Technik, Kompetenz, Sorgfalt, Ausdauer, Leidenschaft, Liebe und vor allem aus grosser Liebe zu seiner Stadt, Cattolica, getan hat und weiterhin tut. "Cattolica, la ricchezza della semplicità"

"Genuinità, essenzialità, sapori di una volta sono qualità che il visitatore percepisce subito e da cui viene immediatamente conquistato appena arriva a Cattolica, e in tutta la Romagna.  Così succede anche a me ogni volta che mi capita di passare di qui, mi sento a casa.  E questo ritrovo nelle immagini intense di Antonio Barbieri, che con sensibilità, amore per la propria terra, curiosità e passione restituisce atmosfere....."

Emotional routes as “Queen”. Pictures and pictures of Cattolica and its surroundings.

Images as eyes’ battings, as heart’s beats.   

Once more Antonio Barbieri, extending with his camera, his peculiar sin aesthetic display, which allows him to; pick up those soul’s bounces, provoked by an emotional influence, translates into pictures “Moments”, that we would normally lose. 

Pictures so full of words, that can be expressed, just in his way, with “that” click, Antonio Barbieri provides us with a lexicon, that, just because it’s very different from the writing’s alphabetical lexicon, it’s much more universal. 

He speaks to everybody in the same way, which is beyond the different languages. This Languages, so clear, elaborates a suggestive semiotic, which speaks  directly to the soul. 

The pictures, proposed by the author, have been picked up with an instinctive simplicity, without technical tampering, that could alter the truth. 

A story comes out, and it’s full of landscape and heart’s places, seducing the reader-visitor in a trip. Made of visual suggestions, limbering up in a narration, without space’s or time’s borders, because they contain those perfect place too, that the soul builds as ideal breaks in a life, which, too often, runs too panting and forgetting those pleasures, offered us by the nature each day. 

As a fired sunset, among black clouds on the sea. 

As a female figure, on a still desert beach, in a clear and transparent dawn, still waiting to start the usual trick of daily life. The trick concerns the duties work-amusement, that mechanically scan the existential coordinates. 

Pictures as eyes’ battings and heart’s too, and that the author translates into photographic shoots, just for telling us about them, in a stimulant emotional route, giving us back peaceful sensations, full of signs and evoker of hidden soul’s stories. 

Pictures as heart beats and soul’s bounces, leading us back to other places. To somewhere not completely lost.

“Cattolica is the voice of my heart” 

….but you, where did you go out? Out of a book of mine? Yes indeed, because whenever I look at his pictures, I behave like a ghost, an ethereal figure, moving through the shadows, passing unnoticed to the eyes, but not to the heart. I really love Cattolica, I don’t even know the reason why. Just because I feel alive there. I feel myself. Cattolica looks to me alive, vibrant, waiting perennially for me to come back there. Its streets, its alleys, its fountains, its voices, hidden among the waves among the people, dreaming…everything is waiting for me, and I am waiting for it, because it’s not just a city, but perhaps it’s my heart, my being alive and true. It’s want I am not capable of bringing here, with my family, my problems, my job. Cattolica is the voice of my heart, asking me to beloved, to be dreaming once more, because life is grey…without a bit of magic. And the magic is in its castles, in its history, in its crystalline waters, in the laughter’s of the people, in the kicking horses, taking for a walk the tourists, in the children’s joy. I observe al this in his picture too, I see myself in them, I see a world of mine in them, where to escape and to hide from evil, from the others.

I write for dreaming, for having dream, for having love, for having love my “women”, my places. And it tries to enrapture a light , a smile, a glance, a moment. We are two dreamers, wanting to donate a moment of happiness. I have a very strong tie with this city, I don’t even know the reason why, but apart from the memories, since the first instant, I felt “something” for this city. Let’s say it’s the beating of my heart. I’m sure that in another life, I lived something, that ties me it and that I don’t know. Nevertheless, I wanted to tell you that your pictures, last summer, moved me in an unbelievable way: you were capable of imprisoning all the emotions of the human soul, just with a few stroke of light: the stormy sea, as the storm rising inside of us, whenever we feel strong sentiments: love, passion doubt. 

“Cattolica è la voce del mio cuore” 

...ma lei da dov'è uscito?Da uno dei miei libri? Già,perchè quando guardo le sue foto, sono come un fantasma, un'eterea figura che si muove tra le ombre,che sfugge agli occhi,ma non al cuore. Cattolica mi è davvero cara,non so nemmeno io perchè. So solo che lì mi sento viva,mi sento 'io'. Cattolica è per me viva, vibrante,in perenne attesa che io vi faccia ritorno. Le sue strade, i suoi vicoli, le sue fontane,le sue voci nascoste tra le onde,tra la gente che sogna...tutto mi aspetta e io aspetto lei,perchè lei non è una città,ma forse, è il mio cuore, il mio essere vera. Quello che non riesco ad essere qui,con la mia famiglia,coi problemi, col lavoro. Cattolica è la voce del mio cuore che chiede di essere amato,di sognare ancora, perchè la vita è grigia...senza un po' di magia. E la magia è nei suoi castelli,nella sua storia,nelle sue acque cristalline,nelle risate della gente,nei cavalli scalpitanti che portano i turisti,nella gioia dei bambini. Tutto questo io lo vedo anche nelle sue foto,ci vedo me stessa,ci vedo un mondo solo mio,dove fuggire a nascondermi dal male,dagli altri. Scrivo, per sognare, per far sognare,per far amare e far vivere le mie 'donne', i miei luoghi. E lei,cerca di rapire una luce,un sorriso,uno sguardo,un attimo. Siamo due sognatori che vogliono regalare un momento di felicità. Ho un legame molto forte con questa città, non so nemmeno perchè,ma,a prescindere dai ricordi, fin dal primo istante ho sentito un 'qualcosa' con questa città. Diciamo che essa è il pulsare del mio cuore. Sono sicura che in un'altra vita, ho vissuto qualcosa che mi lega ad essa e che io non so. Comunque, volevo dirle che le sue foto,l'estate scorsa, mi hanno commosso in un modo incredibile:lei è riuscito,in pochi tratti di luce, ad imprigionare tutte le emozioni dell'animo umano:il mare in tempesta, come la tempesta che si agita dentro noi quando viviamo sentimenti forti:l'amore,la passione,il dubbio... il garrire dei gabbiani al mattino, lo spruzzo delle onde, la voce misteriosa delle sirene nella fontana,che solo io riesco a sentire. A volte, le guardo e sembra che loro vogliano parlare solo con me. Per me, Cattolica non è una città, è qualcosa di vivo, qualcosa che si agita dentro di me e, spesso, odio i turisti che mi invadono e distruggono, come se Cattolica fosse solo mia,vorrei proteggerla,nasconderla. Io vedo e sento cose che agli altri è negato. Alcune di queste cose le ho viste nelle sue foto e mi sono sentita vulnerabile, come se qualcuno le avesse strappate fuori dal mio respiro,dall'oscurità più profonda del mio essere. Ho sempre desiderato conoscerla,dare un volto all'uomo che ha saputo vedere il mio mondo segreto.

Antonio Barbieri collabora con Immagini della Sua Collezione fotografica  nella pubblicazione del volume “XXXVI Cattolica in Fiore” promosso dalla Banca Popolare Valconca.                                                              La Nuova "Piazza del Tramonto" prossima inaugurazione.

On peut aimer Cattolica de plusieurs façons Goûter la ville de Cattolica dans l’enfance en bâtant des châteaux de sable précaires sur la ligne de brisement des vagues qui vont être érodés par le ressac; la goûter à l’âge adulte en y allant en  vacances au cours des années , peut–être avec la femme,  puis avec les enfants et ensuite avec les petits-enfants ; la effleurer en hiver avec le brouillard qui nuance les contours des rues et avec le gémissement de la sirène qui monte du port ; la voir avec les arbres recouverts de givre qui fait briller les oreilles ; l’anticiper à la fête des fleurs, lorsque la nature explose de milles couleurs ; la souffrir en espérant que le vent du sud-ouest cesse bientôt ; la lécher par la fenêtre d’un  train en marche, qui ne s’arrête pas et laisse derrière lui,  dans la mer qui s’éloigne, des morceaux de souvenirs et des images heureuses ; la raconter dans les livres et dire et donner aux autres ce qui presse de l’intérieur  ; la photographier pour fixer le temps, pour retrouver une émotion, pour saisir une lumière, une ombre, une couleur, un reflet, un profil, et pour centaines d’autres raisons. Justement pour faire des photos et les montrer dans une exposition, afin qu’elles puissent être vues et les réunir ensuite dans un volume parce que elles doivent être conservées et puis les disperser dans le vaste réseau informatique pour qu’un pèlerin curieux les trouvent ;  ça c’est aimer.  C’est exactement ce que le bon Antonio Barbieri a fait et en train de faire avec technique, compétence, soin, constance,  passion,  amour et surtout grand amour pour sa ville, Cattolica.  Prof. Guido Paolucci

Percorsi Emozionali da “Regina” 

Ancora immagini e immagini di Cattolica e del suo intorno. 

Immagini come battiti di ciglia. 

Come battiti del cuore. 

Ancora una volta Antonio Barbieri, prolungando con la sua macchina fotografica quel suo particolare apparato sinestetico che gli permette di cogliere quei balzi dell’anima suscitati da uno stimolo emotivo, traduce in immagini “attimi” che comunemente perderemmo. Immagini cariche di parole esprimibili solo così, con “quello” scatto. Antonio Barbieri ci fornisce così un lessico che, proprio perché prescinde da quello alfabetico della scrittura, è molto più universale. 

Parla a tutti in modo uguale al di là delle diverse lingue. Questo linguaggio così chiaro elabora una suggestiva semiotica che dialoga direttamente con l’anima. 

Le immagini che l’autore propone sono state colte con semplicità istintuale, senza manomissioni tecniche che ne alterino la verità. Ne esce un racconto di paesaggi e luoghi del cuore che seduce il lettore-visitatore in un viaggio di suggestioni visive che si snodano in una narrazione senza confini di spazio e di tempo perché racchiudono anche quei luoghi perfetti che l’anima costruisce come soste ideali in una vita che spesso corre troppo affannosa e dimentica di quei piaceri che madre natura ci offre ogni giorno. Come un tramonto incendiato tra nubi nere sul mare. Come una figura femminile su una spiaggia ancora deserta in un alba chiara e trasparente che ancora indugia a dare inizio al consueto inganno della vita quotidiana. 

Quello dei doveri lavoro-divertimento che scandiscono meccanicisticamente le coordinate esistenziali. Immagini che sono battiti di ciglia e del cuore e che l’autore traduce in scatti fotografici per raccontarceli poi in uno stimolante percorso emozionale che ci restituisce sensazioni sopite, dense di segni ed evocatrici di storie nascoste nell’anima. Immagini come battiti del cuore e balzi dell’anima che ci riportano in luoghi altri. In un altrove non del tutto perduto.

“The Way of love and of Images”. 

In the widest breath of ideas and of initiatives, included in the project, “Loving Cattolica”, by Antonio Barbieri, we witness, with pleasure, to exit of the second book of ideal editorial collection, that represents the author’s ulterior contribution to the focalization of picture of our lands. More than the first book, edited last year. This ulterior publication about. “The way of love and of Images”, translated in several foreign languages, has the merit of immortalizing places, spaces and preset and past customs, along with punctual and wonderful descriptions of our communications of Cattolica-Gabicce-Gradara, and he also had the merit of spreading them to the biggest European cities……

……The great passion, the ability and the competence of Antonio Barbieri, handling and using that good device, which is the camera, with all the present and sophisticates performance, technologically equipped, give to the volume’s pictures, a high artistic and poetic value. That roves beyond the portrait and which nails the reader in  the necessity to express the sensations, getting out  of the vision of simple prints, reproducing our loved native lands. So, an ovation to Antonio Barbieri, for his art and for his devotion, and for the other ones, who contributed, at each level, to this production, included the Credit Institute of the, “Credit Cooperative Bank of  Gradara” whose commendable patronism receive the approval of all our communities.

Past, present and future "Amando Cattolica 2006"

Full summertime, a soccer’s game between Italians and Germans. Not even to say it, slippers: in practice a classic. It takes roots in the night of the times, that is, since the Riviera Romagnola revealed itself as an important, internationally known holiday place. It looks weird, but, the one who started remembering his city, in a way, so expected, is exactly the one who has made of a fun, a profession and a style of life, out of trendy places future’s pleasures and amusement’s philosophies. 

And yet my childhood’s memories start right there, in a vacationer Cattolica of the early sixties, Where my father, an army officer an a helicopters; pilot, used to take me to the seaside, for breathing good air, as medically prescript. 

And right that Antonio Barbieri revealed himself, as a doctor of the psyche, a panacea against wear and tear of his first work. 

It’s just because I can find , in his photos, my childhood’s shoots, my Pindaric flights of my first nights of midsummer and my jovial atmospheres of a world, really very closed to me. And more and more, because of the fact that Cattolica has proved to be up to date to the social and tourist new realities and to be adequate to them, showing chamaleontic gifts, thanks to clever contractors, (I’m pleased to mention above all, the name of a friend of mine, Alberta Ferretti), that have let Cattolica return to, the first line, within an ideal pole position, capable of lining up the best of the entire Adriatic coast. Undoubtedly, there isn’t “My” hotel any more, the Queen Mary, or at least, it’s no more the same as in the past because it was properly restructured. But such a circumstance goes fortunately back to the order of the things, or to the functional mutations, or to generational growth and to the desperate will of the territory to be up to date. Even if, now as then, the children aren’t let play and ever, who is not good at it, is the one running after a ball, in the soccer’s games. As mi father, my uncle, as a matter of fact.

…..a love expressing itself in an immoderate desire to capture, sudden, not repeatable, emotive moments. Barbieri cannot go out of home , without his camera, because the meeting with “The shoot you wanted” can take you by surprise. 

It’s no use saying about the clicks, shot in gusts, in order to find the right click, the one which he lies in wait, sometimes for hours, in order to find “That” particular light, lasting, sometimes, just for one second. The extraordinary lights of his photos are ever natural, they are stolen to the reality , just the way it is, and, above all, thanks to very sensitive films and to a light hand and to his held breath. Certain photos look like painted pictures, where the chromatic conversions look like they are wisely spread by the hands of a painter. But Barbieri invites us to reflect o those beauties, provided us by the nature. Beauties like those passages of light, now violet, now grey, now orange. 

Also the classical images-postcards of the city aren’t ever banal, but now they are destructured from the usual cover, and are ready to be revisited by incursions of water’s jets, clouding the sight; now there are magic appearances of the mother, Eugenia, in all her beauty, mermaid among the mermaids of the fountain; now there are Mancini’s Palace and 24^th May street transformed into “Venetian Views” on a lagoon. What can I say about the stairs of the Market, “disguised” as Roman “Flowered of Spain’s Square”? 

Also the seaside’s aren’t ever the same, as by a traditional touristy brochure: the beach is hardly ever desert and with closed great sunshades, often under a dark grey sky, on a fired sky with a violet sunset, looking this way, for just one moment, before being swallowed by the darkness of the night. 

There are no provoking girls, winking to the camera’s lens. 

The persons are ever photographed by a back-view, or in the half darkness, or in lonely walks. They are not identified, because each of us can be one of them, as in a Beaudlaire’s rule: “We are not the others”. Obviously there is a detail, intriguing the observer, and it’s concerning the mysterious female figure, out of time, appearing sometimes among the photos of his photographic narration: she is the author’s mother, perfect icon of the female model of the fifties, consecrated by the cinematographic imaginary, just as Loren-Mangano. She is there, remembering us that the past goes hand in hand, visiting the present. sometime she is in the fountain, dressed in a tall-waisted bikini, challenging in beauty the mermaids; sometime she is dressed all in white, with a blanket, keeping her balance on turtle; sometimes she is dressed in a complicated and seductive striped bikini ; sometime she is lying on a boat, remembering us of, that can, no more, found; sometime she is down on her knees, wearing a wonderful naked-shouldered cloth, in front of the water’s games of the bridge shading into a vivid coloured sunset, as Renoir’s style; sometime she is lying on the beach, dressed in an arm pitted-striped bikini, under the classical August’s fireworks: and this in the boo’s closing photo. The landscapes, photographed  by Barbieri, are so full of poetic aspect, that they remind of a certain Pascoli and of Montale’s sea poetry, (the light become miser and miser in the soul) and they are declining atmospheres, in interior images, where past and present dance together.

Il tema dell’identità di un luogo, che è stata costruita nel tempo e che si riflette nelle case e nelle strade, nel carattere e negli stili di vita dei suoi abitanti, non riguarda solamente coloro che in quei luoghi vivono e che vogliono conservarne la memoria. 

L’identità di un luogo sempre di più diverrà vincente anche come elemento fondamentale di attrazione turistica. Il crescere dell’offerta di nuove destinazioni che vengono proposte agli 850 milioni di viaggiatori che si muovono per il mondo pone infatti la necessità di differenziarsi e farsi riconoscere. 

E di mettere insieme, con sapienza e attenzione alle regole del marketing, tutti i punti di forza che possono essere apprezzati da ciascun segmento della domanda, cioè dei nostri potenziali ospiti. 

E in questa operazione assume grande valore il nostro patrimonio attuale e passato, che puo’ essere comunicato con le immagini di oggi e con quelle di ieri, unite dal filo della memoria e delle testimonianze, in termini di emozioni e di passioni e di segni che il tempo ha lasciato in questa nostra realtà di luoghi e di uomini e di donne che qui sono passati. 

E quindi anche dei nostri ospiti, che tanta parte hanno avuto e hanno nella nostra economia, nella nostra cultura e, appunto, nella nostra stessa identità di città turistica per scelta e per elezione. 

Questo libro di immagini e di parole, unite dall’ amore per Cattolica, rappresenta quindi un contributo eccellente alla conservazione della nostra ricchezza del passato, e alla creazione di quella del futuro.

                        "Con gli occhi di un bambino.."

Antonio Barbieri nato a Cattolica , provetto fotografo sin da tenera età, è legato alla sua cittadina natale da un amore passionale.
Un giorno navigando  approdo sul blog del Sig. Barbieri ed il mio  sguardo frugale, tipico di quando si fa "zapping" su internet, cambia, si sofferma  e colgo uno scatto di un  momento che racconta una intera stagione della mia città..
Un semplice click che descrive la quiete del tramonto, a ottobre, quando Cattolica offre tutte le suggestioni del mare d'inverno.
Un fotogramma,  visto con occhi diversi. Gli occhi non di chi, come me, a Cattolica ci è nato, e vive distratto i momenti del mare,  ma con gli occhi di chi sa cogliere l’attimo intimo, e sa comunicare ad un bambino. Per comunicazione intendo uno scambio di sapere, di emozioni.
Noi vediamo, come si dice, secondo l'educazione che abbiamo ricevuto.
Nel mondo vediamo solo ciò che abbiamo imparato a credere che il mondo contenga.
Siamo stati condizionati ad "aspettarci" di vedere.
 E, in effetti, tale consenso sulla funzione degli oggetti ha una validità sociale.
Imparare a vedere senza preconcetti  permette ad Antonio Barbieri di dare del tu al mare, e il sentirsi  bambino è l'origine dell’arte commovente che l'artista, ormai  uomo maturo, ci fa scoprire. 

Quello che Antonio dice di se, è l’essenza della sua arte: " Amo quello scatto e quella sfida intimata dall’inquadratura che non concede repliche." 

Con queste righe, vorrei sentitamente ringraziare il Sig. Antonio Barbieri , non solo perché mi regala i suoi momenti , ma soprattutto perché mi fa sentire felice, orgoglioso, fortunato di essere un Cattolichino.

At the harbour’s little square, exhibited the gigantic photos, immortalizing the different faces of the se city.  

Cattolica grows up with Antonio Barbieri.  

Also the postcard’s places lose stereotyped aspects. 

Cattolica: inside the so-called “Little Boat’s Square”, situated in the harbour’s square S.Galluzzi, Cattolica’s mayor, Mr.Pazzaglini, opened the photographic exhibition of Antonio Barbieri, who presented, on occasion, his book “Loving Cattolica”, a collection of particularly city’s meaningful pictures. 

A lot of them is, since months, available in internet’s sites of the Romagna and of the Queen. 

Some of them can be found in the new Cattolica city’s brochure. 

Antonio Barbieri presented, a year ago, his first exhibition, “Loving Cattolica” and it was shown exactly at Mancini’s Palace. It was a great success and the visitors asked to be given the book, which there was not yet. 

Now the book is available and it contains Justas a little part of the several photos. Taken by Barbieri and he says, himself, to have selected them with difficulty, because each choice means renunciations, a thing no-on would like to do. 

However, one can admire al that is sufficient to give the measure of the aesthetic affective sensibility, the author infused in those pictures, so full of evoker power. There are seaside’s landscapes. Picked up in the less violent hours of light. There are claws and shells, looking like they are emerging from the pages, in a so strong distinctness. There are skies so full of white clouds, as cream, and other skies, so black, that are to pour with storms. There are amazing sunsets, looking like they are painted, but they are real: the colours are natural and they can be enjoyed, hesitating on the beach, during particular hours. Barbieri uses, nor coloured filters, neither flashes. All that we observe in completely natural. For this reason, his nocturnal photos have a magic, irresistibly moving whoever looks at them. Also the canonical laces, assigned to tourist postcard, lose that touch of stereotyped, that one is waiting for. 

In the harbour little square, an exhibition of twenty gigantic photos, from the book of Antonio Barbieri, has been held. The photos have been collocated on the benches, surrounding the fountain of the boat, and they will remain there all summer long.
