Attimi, emozioni di un tempo infinito… sulle tracce di Guglielmo Marconi

L’Elettra di Guglielmo Marconi 

Gabriele D’Annunzio definì l’Elettra come una candida nave che naviga nel miracolo ed anima i silenzi, parole che rappresentano perfettamente la nave-laboratorio di Guglielmo Marconi e l’importanza che ha avuto per i suoi esperimenti di radiofonia. L’elegante Yacht, costruito per ordine dell’Arciduca d’Austria Carlo Stefano, venne varato il 27 marzo 1904 con il nome di Rovenska. Venduto poi a diversi proprietari, venne militarizzato a seguito dello scoppio della Prima Guerra Mondiale divenendo una nave da pattugliamento e di scorta in servizio nel Canale della Manica. Terminata la grande guerra, lo yacht in disarmo presso il porto di Southampton, fu acquistato ad un’asta da Guglielmo Marconi per 21.000 sterline. Era il 1919, iniziava così il legame indissolubile tra lo scienziato e la “sua” Elettra.Trasferita a La Spezia e trasformata in una speciale nave-laboratorio, divenne in breve tempo il centro degli esperimenti condotti da Marconi. Il 27 Ottobre 1921 venne ufficialmente iscritta con il nome di Elettra al compartimento marittimo di Genova con numero di matricola 956. L’imbarcazione era perfetta sia per lavorare in tranquillità, lontano quindi da distrazioni, sia perché possedeva la notevole caratteristica di potersi spostare velocemente risolvendo così i problemi legati alla portata e agli effetti direzionali delle radiocomunicazioni. A bordo di Elettra Marconi svolse importanti esperimenti, quello più memorabile avvenne nel 1930 quando ormeggiato al Porto di Genova, accese le luci del Municipio di Sidney, in Australia. Erano le 11.03, la semplice pressione di un tasto aveva realizzato l’impossibile, inviare degli impulsi attraverso l’etere a 14.000 miglia di distanza. Il tasto è conservato al Museo Marittimo di Trieste. Dopo la morte di Marconi avvenuta il 20 Luglio 1937, Elettra venne acquistata dal Ministero delle Poste e Telecomunicazioni e portata a Trieste durante la guerra per preservarla dagli attacchi nemici. Purtroppo lo sforzo fu vano perché nel 1943 lo yacht venne requisito dalle truppe tedesche e trasformato in unità militare; si riuscì soltanto a far sbarcare le apparecchiature utilizzate dallo scienziato e a custodirle in alcune casse. Nel gennaio del 1944, in pattugliamento lungo le coste della Dalmazia, rimase incagliata vicino a Zara e venne bombarda dai cacciabombardieri alleati. Una parte dello scafo rimase emerso portando  al saccheggiamento di tutto il suo contenuto. In base al trattato di pace, il relitto divenne proprietà della Repubblica Iugoslava e, dopo insistenti richieste, nel 1962 Elettra venne restituita all’Italia. Il Ministero delle Poste e Telecomunicazioni decise di avviare un progetto di ristrutturazione dell’imbarcazione ma la spesa da affrontare era enorme e i fondi a disposizione non lo permisero. Iniziarono dieci anni di accese polemiche che non portarono a niente mentre la ruggine corrodeva quello che restava del relitto. Con il passare del tempo i preventivi di spesa aumentavano e i pezzi dell’Elettra che si potevano salvare, erano rimasti pochi. Non si trattava più di un restauro ma della costruzione di una nuova barca; venne così decisa la sua demolizione. Il 18 Aprile 1977 lo scafo venne frazionato e le varie parti inviate in diverse città italiane. La prua è esposta all'AREA Science Park di Trieste mentre la poppa e l'elica sono invece esposte all'entrata del Centro di Telecomunicazioni di Telespazio, nel Fucino. Nel 2002 è stata varata una nave militare di supporto operativo battezzata con il nome Elettra per ricordare la barca di Marconi. Dotata di sofisticate apparecchiature tecnologiche, è entrata in servizio nel 2003. Sarebbe stato meraviglioso se questo splendido yacht fosse stato restaurato e trasformato in una nave-museo, un luogo affollato da visitatori desiderosi di conoscere e capire il forte legame che c’è stato fra Elettra e Guglielmo Marconi. Testo di Alessandra Fabri

""The editions of Loving Catholic accustomed us to elevated and appreciated quality standards. To turn just a quick look at the images and the contents of the editions, is as to enter a poetic world. They are images that return to our eye a reality filtered by the poetic, by the emotionalism, by the look of the author, and they bring back it with great communicability and impact. It’s always a little magic as details and pictures of everyday life can be transformed, through the photographic art of authors as Anthony Barbieri  in something different and of unpublished. An emotional look that conceals the emotional experience of places and those who live these ones, a different and higher  way  "to see" places. 

Loving Catholic is an  integral part of the culture and the identity of our Province, and it has shown  with the preceding edition, not only devoted to an important man of Catholic, Guido Paolucci, physician and scientist of great professional thickness but also human and cultural. One of those that leave the sign and an inheritance that it goes well besides how much of important fact already in life. To unite these worlds, to remember them and to make them accessible to everybody, is a great worth that I recognize to "Loving Catholic" and to his/her activities that, with this new publication, they want to make a further breakthrough succeeding us. I’m talking about the idea to ideally embrace, with the artistic look of the photo, whole Italy in the 150 of the birth. To go out of the localism and to bring the look out of our borders, going to find those realities to their house that, in the summer, we entertain in our tourist structures, it is a succeeded breakthrough. Bologna, Florence, Pesaro, Urbino, Rome, Milan and so many other places of the Beautiful Country are redelivered us under a different light from the photographic eye of Barbieri. The initiatives of "Loving Catholic " are been defined realizations for purposes purely popular with the cultural and tourism promotion on a National level; with the universal language of the images it crosses an ideal trip representing places, people, landscapes, emotions; what with the heart it tells our deeper identity. A photographic tour that, with a symbolic communicative exchange of images among the cities, bears relevance for local tourist towns enhancing portraits places that are the cultural and natural heritage of our Country. 

Images able to pick up the emotions of a place getting a strong interest from the public;  numerous visitors during the shows, so many comparisons and appreciations skimming through the volumes of the publications realized to a cultural strong emotional impact.

It  also has been defined humanitarian for the edition of the volume 2010-2011 from the title "Looks expressions of a feeling". "To have honored the memory of a great citizen of Catholic, the oncologist of world fame, who was ordinary of Pediatrics, Director of the institute of Pediatric Clinic and the Center of Interdisciplinary Research on Cancer of the university of the Studies in Bologna Prof. Guido Paolucci, founder of the A.G.E.O.P, Association for the assistance and the reception of children suffering from leukemia and cancer.” 

The photographic Project is recognized as initiative that constitutes interest under the aspect of the reception and the tourist promotion to National level; for the content, for the message, for the feeling that also desires to transmit respect our territory to the foreign countries through the images. 

VI° edition of the photographic volume of the project "Loving Catholic" from the title:  "Instants, emotions in the endless time"… on the traces of Guglielmo Marconi  

Pregnant theme is water as an irreplaceable element that gives life; fountains expression of harmony, gardens and flowers as soul of existence. The colors become the expression of feelings: the blue and light blue are linked to spirituality,  green is the color of meditation .  

The camera becomes a means and source of expression, the images area temporal evidence  and rigorous chronicle of short stories, evoking the beauty of nature that give nourishment to emotional pressures, as in the images of the seasons: where spring opens to the lush ripeness of summer , which brings in his heart the poignant melancholy of autumn. The artistic / photography focuses on cities and illustrates the regions of Emilia Romagna and Marche. Tribute with pictures of the Vatican City, Rome and Florence.   

The author of "Amando Cattolica" search with this gesture to make a modest contribution to this prestigious project established by Prof.Guido Paolucci.

An hospital is always a sad, especially when children are being hospitalized. In these situations it is essential to try to help these children to live in as good as possible. A galleon sailing in a beautiful blue sea or a colorful rainbow in the sky can enliven the walls of the Department of Pediatric Oncology and Hematology, Policlinico S. Orsola-Malpighi, designs that give with their simplicity a smile to children hospitalized in the structure. Thanks to Prof. Guido Paolucci, the unit was opened in 1967, becoming in the years one of the most advanced treatment and research of childhood cancer. 

With the support of Professor Paolucci and some parents, in 1982 the AGEOP (Parents Association of Pediatric Hematology Oncology) was established, an association that give support to sick children and their parents. A child even if sick, more than ever need to live in a serene place with his parents, aplace that does not ever forget the face of a child. The work of many volunteers who donate a bit of their time to these children is admirable. Entertainment, logistics, planning tours, promotion and communication are just some of the many activities of the assistance association. 

Often, families of sick people are left alone with their tragedy, too often adequate places lack to help these parents. This is why associations such as AGEOP should continue through the external promotion and volunteers to continue their work. Communication is important, knowing these realities everyone in his small, can help these children to find a smile, as the galleon sailing in the blue sea of the design ... Text of Alessandra Fabri

The fifth edition of the book of photographs related to the Project "Amando Cattolica" continues the journey in pictures titled "Gazes, expression of feeling" that makes sense the theme of the album photographs, witness and timely news stories, cities, countries and situations that clearly reflect the essence of a deep underground, where the deepest feelings have always found ways and means of expression. The book then moves away from the Catholic, along a trail that covers many cities in Emilia-Romagna and the Marches, in order to expand increasingly the target of his artistic research. All this is confirmed in the identity shared by the people of this land, hardworking, productive, dynamic, lively and generous and for which the concept of solidarity, hospitality, accommodation and coexistence has ancient roots, until it becomes more and more appreciated destination of Italian and Foreign guests. The art of photography often made possible to stop time, becoming faithful witness of moments and emotions that is difficult to describe in words and in this the skill of Anthony Barbieri is clearly an act of love for his land.

Genuineness, simplicity, old tastes are qualities that the visitor is immediately aware and which is immediately captured when he comes to Cattolica, and across the Romagna. So it happens to me every time I pass by, I feel at home. This feeling I find in the intense images of Antonio Barbieri, with sensitivity, love for his land, curiosity and passion, he returns atmospheres and landscapes but also and above all, actions and feelings of those living here or living the city only on vacation. The culture of hospitality is deeply rooted in these parts to be entered in the way of life of those who received us with affection and sympathy, as if we were part of the family, and makes a unique and unforgettable stay in these areas. And this naturally, developed over the years to become almost innate, which determined the success of the Adriatic coast in the tourist-resort national system. It should go from here all those who are preparing to make tourism their profession to experiment and, if possible, learn ... the richness of simplicity.

Chi non vive a Cattolica difficilmente comprende lo stato d’animo di chi si

appresta ad osservare il paesaggio, l’emozione che ci coglie guardando le meraviglie che rappresentano angoli caratteristici della nostra Città, l’infinita bellezza del suo mare, l’ordine delle sue spiagge, lo spumeggiante infrangersi delle onde sulle coloratissime scogliere. Non riesce ad immaginare uno splendido tramonto del sole che si tuffa nell’acqua, tracciando all’orizzonte un’infinita linea di fuoco; o lo spettacolo del mattino impreziosito dal volo dei gabbiani che si rincorrono disegnando figure immaginarie attorno alle barche che terminata una nottata di pesca ritornano in porto seguite da una lunga traccia di schiuma bianca.

                  Emozioni, sensazioni, immagini raccolte con maestria che il tempo non può cancellare,

che si possono vedere dal vivo osservando un’alba ed un tramonto, un angolo caratteristico del nostro paesaggio, una spiaggia d’estate, ed una marina d’inverno.

                 Un paesaggio meraviglioso che ritroviamo nelle opere fotografiche di Antonio Barbieri

che ferma le immagini, che annulla il tempo, che trasforma in arte vera la prepotente bellezza dei nostri luoghi.

Il ricordo del passato si unisce a sensazioni di meraviglia verso la visione attuale, sintesi di qualità e di vissuto.
